Normally this is used in a way that is designed to ignore the presence of Radon. Radon is naturally occuring and in nuclear stations ignored when assessing airborne contamination from the operation of the plant itself. I am sure you can use this as a very effective radon monitor by turning off the discrimination, but we have not attempted this.
